Rose day celebrations
We had the annual tie day, sari day and rose day celebrations in college on 28th January 2006.I must say that almost everyone came dressed in the best possible way.The girls had these beautiful sarees with psychedelic colours, and they were all looking at their radiant best. The 9 yard cloth does have its own charm. The guys were all looking like managers.Everyone was dressed in a full sleeved shirt, formal pants, tie and all that.It was definitely a great sight to see people who always move around in round collared t's in a formal attire.
Next up was probly the main event of the day.The roses were distributed and dedications were read out in the respective classes. Some of the best dedications were read out in the auditorium where all the proffesors and principle had gathered to watch the ceremony. There were some really great messages from the guys to the gals and vice versa.I'm sure most of the dedications were proxy.Ha ha.That's the fun in having all these days, right? There were some really nasty messages though.I thought they were all in really bad taste. But, I do hope that the genuine messages are taken in the spirit of the rose day celebrations and strike the right chord in the hearts of the recepients. After all words speak much more than actions. While I could see ecstacy, blithe and excitement on many faces I also saw some heart broken faces.I guess that's life. What is one man's food is another man's poison. What can I say about the poignant mood one of my closest friends was in?He still managed to put up a great act I must say.Smiles and all that show.Anyways, enough of all the gloomy incidents and happenings.
Personally, it sure was a rare day for me.Getting 7 roses was a first one for me.Two of them were anonymous dedications.Well,I guess someone's keeping a close watch on me.It feels great to be noticed by someone unknown. There were some really great dedications from some of my close friends. Thanks a lot people.I guess its all about the thoughts and good wishes.Yesterday, was a day of many firsts for me.First time I got a rose from a gal(s). A count of 7 is not bad for a beginner. For the first time I saw this really cute girl in F.E. I didn't know that such a cute and pretty face existed in the college.Impromptu,I just went over to her and gave her a rose.We also got a few snaps with her.It was really nice of her to come and agree to a few snaps inspite of all my friends screaming and hooting.Gr8 spirit gal.I just feel that I missed out on some gr8 rose day celebrations in the last 3 years. But, what the heck. It's better late than never.
