I like.....

We always have some person whom we look upto.We all need motivation, inspiration etc.We all look upto someone in times of crisis.Someone we all take inspiration from when the chips are down.I have my own list of persons whom I look upto when I need to charge myself, when I'm down and need motivation.
I like Steve Waugh not just because of the grit, determination and leadership he showed on the field but also because of his off-field work.I like him because unlike Sachin,he'll never auction his pads, bats, gloves and announce to world that he does "his bit" for charity. He'll never ask for a Ferrari without paying the tax like "poor" crciketers from India.I like him because of the work he has done for "Udayan" a childrens home for lepors and the destitute.
I like J.M Lyngdoh because of the truth, honesty and conviction he showed when it came to elections in Kashmir and Gujarat, after the state sponsored riots. He had the courage to take o the administration not just in the state but also the centre. He did not leave his job for greener better opportunities which were offered to him because of his reluctance to toe the governments line of conducting elections as early as possible.Hats off tou Mr. Lyngdoh.
I like Rahul Dravid because of his grit, the character he shows while batting in difficult situations, his team spirit, his modesty.More than that,I like him because he will never "get injured" on the morning of a test match after seeing a green top, or a terror of a pitch unlike his predecessors.I like him because he will never fiegn an injury whenever there is a possibility of India losing a series,so that he can escape the axe.The great "Wall of India" is too good.A big thumbs up to him.
I like Javed Akhtar fot the courage, grit, wit and honesty he shows when he expresses his opinions.I like him because he is a true Indian. He is not a hypocrite. He opposes the maulvis and hardliners from his community with the same defiance and "don't care attitude" as he does when he opposes their Hindu counterparts like the "Sangh parivar".
I like Sunil Gavaskar because of the modesty he shows. He is one of the all time greats of cricket.Even the great Sir Garfield Sobers announced that Sunil Gavaskar was one of the greatest batsmen of all time.I guess thats the biggest honour someone can get.The man has scored 34 Test centuries as an opening batsman in test cricket,at a time when there were no helmets,no rules of limited bouncers per over, green tops, bowler helpful pitches unlike the "dead as a dodo" pitches of modern day cricket.
He has faced some of the firecest bowlers of all time.Yet he never misses an opportunity to declare another Indian as the greatest batsman of India.
I like Aamir Khan since he brought alive his "on screen" RDB character in real life.He sat with the villagers of Gujarat, the tribals and opposed the building of the dam without resettling the affected people. He has clearly said that he was not against the dam but,he wanted the affected people to be compensated first. He could easily have sat at home and counted the profits of his films instead of burning his hands over this issue. But,he used his celebrity status for something constructive.
I like Mani Ratnam and Ram Gopal Varma because they will never make a film like "Kabhie Khushi Kabhi ghum".Ouch!

u like a person for what he is... not for what someone else lacks... as is seen evident by what u have written...... and maybe u need to relook a lotta facts... seriously... steve waugh's cptaincy maybe praised.. but he was a racist muther fucker.... callin a lottaa srilankan players "" black cum"" along with darren lehmann.... and his udayan trip was much more publicised than bangladesh's president's visit to india... tht too on talks of eliminating cross border terrorism.. haha ironically and quite naively u talk abt him doin silent work... hahahahahah!! dude.. dont be a dude.. they are dimwits...
J M lyndoh was no doubt a very courageous man.. but thwere wwere a lot of predessors for him to emulate.... TN seshan for one......
and aamir khan.... he maybe good... but do u knw... tht he is the brand ambassador for coke which is practically draining the whole of underground water level in all the places they set up theri plant.. and worst still they sell sludge as useful fertiliser to farmers,, imagine a multinational conning poor farmers.. and give a stupid excuse by saying he doesn knw... he does cause he was intimated of this problem in 2004.. iit has already appeared in p[apeers....
ram gopal verma.... is a bloody moron.... his films never work and he is a egoistic fool whose films tht work have all had stars in it.... and in the mask of being the producer he proxy directs alkl his movies.. and most of them recentl have been duds.... not to critise his bad movies...
sunil gavaskar was no wonder the best batsman of his era.. but he has been more intrested in off feild politics and icc work rather than giving back the country wht it has given to him.. and dont think of mentioning the national school of trainig tht he help establish in banglore... i'll have to write pages and pages abt it..... and fuck the gujrat dam... the onl problem they are facing is tht they need to relocated well... thts it.. the benefits tht the dam has to offer three sates in farming and electricity is conveniently overlooked for all the razzmataz tht stars bring with their association with this cause.... and plzz dont mention sachin tendulkar... just because he doesnt mention tht he does work doesn mean he doesn... hahahahah!!!! and auctioning caps, pads and helmets does get u money tht goes to charity... and who wud wanna buy shit tht steve waugh wore.... hahahaha... comeon....... think over it.. dont say u will....

I'm not against the building of the dam.Even aamir said tht he wasn't against the dam being built. So,there is no question of us being opposed to it.Just read carefully what I've written abt Aamir.U better go thru it once again.I just mentioned tht I liked him because of the conviction he has shown. He stood up for something he believed in.He just said tht all the affected villagers shud be rehabilitated first before the dam height was raised. There's nothin' wrong in wat he said man.Any sensible person wud say the same thing.Whetehr anyone is "for" or "against" the dam is not an issue.Aamir even spoke out against Naredndra Modi during the gujarat riots.Along with Rahul Bose,he was the only other actor fro the film industry to cry out against the madness which took place during the riots. That calls for guts man.I like him for these qualities. No other actor had the courage to say anything at tht time.No one was ready to speak out openly at tht time since, the central govt also was led by the BJP.So,aamir didn't oppose the dam for any publicity. No one wud want to burn his hands over such issues.
As for Steve waugh, lemme tell u tht he has won more test matches bith at home and abroad for Australia than Sachin has for India.U may not want steve waugh's shirt, but there are millions of cricket lovers who realize thta Steve was a much more effective and dependable batsman than sachin. He never thrived on media hype.He has actually won test matches and test series for Australia and saved them from many such defats too. So,if u don't want tht shirt of his it doesn't matter, jsut move over 'cos there are lots and lotsa fans standin' in the line for his shirt.

cant think of any women eh?
well...u mention aamir khan coz he sat with the nba, but I guess u've never heard of medha patkar.
U mentioned javed akhtar for his secularist values, but ever heard about his wife? She's this brilliant actress, exteremely vocal about the same issues and sat with slum dwellers in the sweltereing heat to protect their homes, long before it was fashionable to do so.
You want more women?Kiran Bedi, Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, Anju Bobby George, Teesta Setalvad (who btw also 'spoke out against NM' and is still fighting)...and the list goes on...
couldnt think of any or couldnt bother to think of any?

dekha.. there u go again...... dont think tht i am tryin to bring wht u hv said down.... get this fact in ur head.. and i hv read wht u hv written more than once.. and beleive me everytime i read it.. i feel like laughing at it..... aamir khan maybe a god sent boon to the narmada dam agitators.. and as rachna rightly pointed out medha patkar has no other work than opoosing the dam construction wht abt her.... ((( psst.... u call me and i will tell u some interanl matters)).. but i hv nmentioned his involvement with coke.... read tht... and again u compare steve with sachin.. is tht how u like ppl.. cause u find it easier to bring someone else down in front of them... this will be the last time i shall say this... u read wht u hv written urself... under the title" I LIKE".. and frankly fuck steve waugh... and fuck sachin for all i care.....the point is u like steve waugh cause u r comparing him with sachin.... tht is infact clearer with ur reply to my post... hahahahahaha... u shud get in touch wit me soon.... u need therapy... or something to make u relax.. seriously... and by the way abt deepa mehta apart from water all her movies suck. mention gurinder chadda for her bend it like beckham... she shud be a good choice.. or even kalpana lajmi.. but plzz overlook her "chingaari" freak tht was bad........ hahahahahaha........

Teesta Setalvad is one of India's brightest gems, the lone battle that shes fighting is awe inspiring. And were it not for Medha Patkar, AK would never have got a chance to express his view on NBA.

Some more women to look up to :))Usha Uthup (rockstar in a saree!!), Lata Mangeshkar, or MS Subhalakshmi ( she made millions out of her voice, MOST of which went to charity, practised austere living, the house she died in was on lease) P.T Usha ( she broke so many stereotypes ) , Barkha Dutt(??! MOST visible journalist, whatever you think of her youve got to admire her reach), Shiela Dixit (best cm of India prob, Delhi damn lucky, they nevr had it better, we ought to consider importing her to B'bay), Martina Navaratilova ( cmon, shes 50 and still hitting the ball better than most, some inspiration atleast)

Hell, Shakira was inspiring yest, I personally havent seen anybody else dance or move like that, other than MJ perhaps!

I wont flay you for your choice of idols ( or even the reason why you choose them), ppl can choose whom they like, but you must def think about drawing inspiration from some women if you dont wanna miss out on some of the most fabulous ppl ife has to offer.

Rachana,
I just misd the women.Dunno how,but they just slipped out.As for the list of women u gave me.Let me tell u very frankly, I don't think very highly of Medha Patkar. For me she's kinda anti-national.She will be there in my"I don't like" list. Not because she is supporting the tribals, but because she is against bulding and raising the height of the dam.I don't think u are aware of the fact tht she and her group of NBA activists were responsible for vandalising a govt office in MP,which was set up to ensure tht the displaced tribals were compensated for their losses. She also threatened the tribals not take any money from the govt of MP or any piece of land tht they offer them at some other place. So much for people power!I'm sure u also are unaware of thte fact tht it has been discovered tht she has been getting an undisclosed amount of money in her personal account every month from an undientified source. Those who are opposing the dam are against the progress of India.Medha Patkar is in the forefront of all this. The people's leader has resorted to threating tribals and vandalising govt offices which have been set up for looking into the compensation issue. As for teesta seetalvad, she definitely would be there in my list.I agree it was a mistake to have left her out.I have heard of Deepa Mehta and I don't think she is gr8.Just because someone makes different movies doesn't make him/her a gr8 director.Just watch bollywood calling.U'll get my point.
As for Shabana Azmi, she was a fab actress. She has done a lot of work for Bandra bandstand and her locality. She has done a lot for the slum dwelleres. But,do u know tht when the same slum dwellers made hutments in front of her house, she protested and got those hutments removed!!!Its very easy to make hutments in public places. But,I wud like to see Ms. Azmi practise what she preaches.
Kiran Bedi is one woman who definitely gets a thumbs up.How cud I miss her name.It was very foolish.I have no words to describe the respect and admiration I have for her.She deserves every accolade tht comes her way.
Hope u now don't feel I was biased when I made my list.
I knew u were a feminsit.But,man u r one helluva feminist.Bye,keep writing

shabana azmi.. shee... never liked her brand of acting.. javed is soo much better....and i dono anything to comment on her personal life...
thank god u dint mention shobaa de.... fuck her... shezz the biggest peice of shit in town... false attitude and an even falser sense of feminisim..shez full of hypocrisy...
kiran bedi.. is like a demi god.. seriousl...
and deepa mehta .. chod dont wannna do this to her...and sheila dixit is a bloody politician... fuck her... i had the highest of regards.. for her....
females shudder at the thought of leaving their house after dark.. and shez praised... all tht she has done for tht state is improving an alread good infrastructure.. wht abt the basic essence of public safety?? meera borwanker... is another woman u wud love to idolise... and y did u forget karnam m,alleswari.. the lone indian bronze meadlist in the olympics... martina is cool... super woman and sania mirza to an extent. and the best of all mother teresa haha she aint a mortal.. she must be divine...... and u label ppl being feminists.. misplaced loalities.. or abject surrender to misguided and prejudiced thought process.....

actually i quite admire medha patkar. I too have a few reservations about the dam. Not because i am against the 'progress of India' I assure you, but I have my reasons.
Deepa Mehta, not just for the movies, but the gumption required to face the dissenting voices.
I did not mention meera borwankar coz i 4got her last name! ouch!
I don't set out to be a feminist pranav...

devil, for the record I think some of your ideas are misplaced , some of your random statements irk me, for ex: " false attitude and falser sense of feminism" ( what is true attitude, truer feminism , who defines, you?)and that you thrash people's acheivements at the drop of your hat (think I have a prob with the way you thrash them) but right now, I really dont wanna start another thread on a third person's blog, maybe some other time.

steve waugh is good...but thten don't ya think that he has better support & less tension because of his team...if sachin had been in his place in australia, i just cant imagine where he would have reached with his achievements...
it's as if when sachin is playing he's the only player in the team...the whole team has fell like a pack of cards on many an occassion just after sachin's wicket was lost...
gavaskar was a politician and will always be...rahul dravid...hmmm...remember the time when sachin needed only 6 runs for a doubl century and he declared...tht's not team spirit...
